It depends on the build of your char, and what you want it to do, or not do. The best amulets are the one's you make yourself (I believe), and to make special one's to get into some area's (like the Artherial Forge. You need a lot of Fire Resistance to go in the lava for loot.

There are a lot of good in game amulet's, but I think the best one's are those you can make yourself to get your char through certain situation's.

Gaulder amulet is a great all around amulet, a bit of a long quest ((Start it by getting the gaulder amulet in saarthal or reading lost legends which can be found behind farengar in dragons reach on the book shelf)) it gives 30+ to stam/magicka/hp. also the locket of saint jiub is good if your a fighter gives a massive carrying weight capacity and.....alot of stamina i believe? but the quest is very hard and takes awhile.

My favorites are self crafted +smithing/+alchemy and +magic resist/+archery(or whatever your primary offense is).

If I'm feeling too soft early game I might go with +health or +armor skill.

I don't think there's much you can find anywhere near what you can craft.

Yeah, once you get higher in level with youe enchanting skills you'll be able to make something that's much better than anything already in the game. Until then, and this is just my personal opinion, I find the Amulet of Talos to be handy. I utilize my shouts a lot, so reducing the recovery time is a big help to me. Plus from a roleplaying perspective I like to openly defy the Thalmor.

You people need to recall, that enchanting and smithing are tiresome albeit rewarding yes. but EXTREMELY tiresome esp enchanting. a full smith and enchanter can be near god like, why not still be powerful and not have to go through all the trouble? and yet still get the satisfying feeling of being powerful? I mean i have a char in full imperial armor and a enchanted daedric claymore that does 35 fire damage, and soul trap. and all my armor enchants basically make it to where my mana never even moves, and i kill everything in nearly one hit, even "Hard" Enemies

You have the same enchant options with rings too. I usually will carry around a water breathing item though in case I want to play in the water for a while. Once I have 100 enchanting though I'll make a new one with an extra effect

I agree with JClarke1953, it depends on your build. If you play a Warrior, Fortify Skill (One-Handed, Two-Handed, Block), a Mage would be a Fortify School to reduce the spell cost. A thief/assassin Fortify Archery, Sneak etc. You can find or make amulets, but making them is easier, just be careful to not abuse the enchanting and smithing otherwise you'll ruin your game. Or you can just use the amulets of the divines like the Amulet of Talos which gives you 20% time reduction between shouts.

For grins and giggles, here's what I've done. Now, keep in mind I'm way short of being an expert, but, my char lives, and she pretty much conquers.

I've gotten a Royal Vampire robe's after resuming Valerica, and enchanted them the destruction and Majika regen. Then I made a ring to do the same, a necklace that is strictly Majika and Majika regen. And I've added Majika to my Vamp Gauntlet's and stealth and fire resistance to the vamp boots.

And that's one of my char's like I said, I'm no expert, the math involving regeneration and destruction stacking. How much or far can you go, stuff like that.

I forgot to mention that I don't do anything smthing or enchanting. My character is a pure 2H warrior with roleplaying restrictions.

Hooray for you, glad you're still enjoying playing with restrictions.

I'm with you, I'd rather not go too overpowered with the crafting skills, and make the most of what I can find.

If you're a warrior, I'd suggest the Gauldur Amulet (if it fits your RP), or a levelled amulet of 'sure grip' (2h) or stamina/health/regen, all of which you can come across fairly easily as loot or at merchants.

For any build, the Gauldur Amulet is pretty useful, especially if you go get it early on. For mages, depending on your play style, Savos Aren's Amulet or the Necromancer's Amulet are both pretty good. For a thief or merchant-type build, the Amulet of Articulation can be a real blessing. I imagine that Dawnguard has some pretty impressive amulets but being on PS3 I'll have to wait until next week to find out.

Hope this helps, though :)

While it's somewhat build dependant, they best one for just about anyone (Especially a non-specialist like Nightblade) is the Gauldur Amulet, because it enhances all 3 Stats. If you're a Mage, then the leveled Savos' Amulet is better (Up to 70 magicka) I also run into necklaces of Poison/Disease immunity right regler once I hit level 30, give or take. If you happen to be a redguard Werewolf in the Savior's hide, whoopty funkin' dew, but for the rest of us, it's kinda nice not having to shoot down hawks whenever you kill a Vampire, or guzzle potions surrounded by mixed Falmer, and Charus.

I don't like the Necromancer's Amulet, nor anything (Like Vampirism) with more penalty than bonus when the bonus isn't that hot to begin with. Fortify Conjuration? great, almost all of them are duration spells, so you don't have to spam them faster than your Magicka can recover, and in return, you don't recover as quickly? Sign me up! [/sarcasm] Even if you're not going to wear the Gauldur Amulet the whole game, you can get it at low lvel, and have an extra 90 stat points when you need them most. If it's not THE best amulet for your build du jour, it's most likely a close second, and almost certainly in the top 3. Because of this mass appeal, across all possible builds, I'd say the Gauldur is the best amulet in the game.

Is that fur coming out of your ears?
Gauldur Amulet, or anything that says "Eminent or Peerless + your main skill," in your case 2 handed, heavy armor, or block IMHO.
