    Low fantasy and high fantasy. It refers to the amount of magic present in the stories. High fantasy has a lot of magic, magical items, wizards, magical creatures, etc.. Low fantasy, typically in a modern setting, has fewer fantastical elements. It may have vampires or elves, but generally there is little to no overt use of magic or spells. For example, Lord of the Rings is high fantasy, Angel and Buffy are low fantasy.
